Our City

Lexington, Kentucky

Located in the heart of the Bluegrass, Lexington is a thriving economic engine for business, education, health care, retail and culture in Central and Eastern Kentucky. Serving as bridge between the economic and public sectors, Babbage Cofounder is deeply involved as a catalyst for energizing the political and economic vitality of our city and region.  Below, see the national rankings that put Lexington on the national map. For more information and ratings, visit Commerce Lexington.

Bob Babbage serves as a major coordinator of the Washington Fly-In, hosted by Commerce Lexington. The annual Fly-In presents an opportunity for the leaders in Central Kentucky to lobby Kentucky's federal Congressional delegation on a number of regional priorities. Central Kentucky's business community, non-profit sector, colleges and universities, and local elected officials are afforded the chance to have back-and-forth discussions with their federally elected counterparts.  Participants also get to meet with other key policy experts and decision makers, such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, chiefs of staff and federal lobbyists. The Fly-In is a critical tool in setting and advocating for regional priorities. Past Fly-Ins have resulted in the following successes:

 • Funding for the I-75 Corridor
 • Funding for the Kentucky Blood Center
 • Funding for the University of Kentucky
 • Funding for the Bluegrass Army Depot
 • Funding for Newtown Pike
